Any form of drug charge can be a highly detrimental thing to have on your record. However, these arrests can often occur on the basis of very little evidence. Recently, a young woman was charged with drug-related offenses after allegedly bringing cocaine into an Illinois jail.
The woman in question had been sent to Madison County Jail and placed in a holding cell where a deputy is said to have noticed her behaving suspiciously. After entering the cell, the deputy discovered a small package of what is believed to be cocaine. Police have chosen to connect the package with the woman.
The 24-year-old is still in custody, charged for cocaine possession and the bringing of contraband into a penal institution. If she is unable to clear her name, the consequences could be severe. However, a large portion of the case is a matter of her word against that of the deputy.
